Desc

The wastewater treatment plant in Brojce required modernization due to the deteriorating technical condition of key equipment. The facility operates as a mechanical–biological treatment plant, using low-loaded activated sludge technology.

The goal of this investment was to strengthen the reliability of the local sewage system, improve wastewater treatment efficiency, and adapt the installation to the growing needs of residents and the planned development of the area. The modernization increased the plant’s capacity from approx. 125 m³ to an average of 600 m³ of wastewater per day, preparing it to serve new catchment areas.

An integral part of the task was the comprehensive renovation of the sewage pumping station – crucial both for residents’ comfort and for compliance with environmental requirements resulting from EU directives. The pumping station was adapted to handle larger volumes of wastewater, including those generated by newly built service infrastructure such as the amusement park constructed within the municipality of Brojce.

Scope of work

Modernization of the wastewater treatment plant in Brojce included, among others:

  • modernization of the Bioblock WS-400, including cleaning, sandblasting and anti-corrosion protection of steel structures, and replacement of technological equipment (2 technological lines)
  • installation of a new aeration system in the nitrification chambers
  • equipping the facility with a blower station
  • supply and installation of a new discharge station for hauled wastewater
  • implementation of a new automation system and full integration of plant operation

The renovation of the sewage pumping station included:

  • reconstruction of pumping chambers with a dedicated retention section
  • cleaning and anti-corrosion protection of the walls of both chambers
  • installation of a new basket screen
  • installation of a submersible mixer and pump in the retention chamber
  • installation of two submersible pumps with new piping in the wet chamber
  • supply and installation of a new DN2000 shut-off valve chamber equipped with shut-off fittings
  • execution of new electrical installations and measurement systems for both pumping chambers

Implemented solutions

The modernization of the municipal wastewater treatment plant in Brojce increased its throughput and improved the reliability of crucial technological systems. As a result of the works, the preliminary treatment process along with the raw wastewater retention system was relocated outside the treatment plant area – to the pumping station, which was also renovated. This arrangement streamlined the flow and optimized the operation of the entire facility.

The modern discharge station and the new automation system improved daily operation as well as monitoring of the treatment plant. Meanwhile, the renovation of the sewage pumping station enhanced transmission parameters and the technical condition of the installation, preparing it to serve new users, including upcoming commercial developments within the municipality.

As the General Contractor, we delivered this project in a “design and build” formula, taking responsibility for the complete scope – from documentation development, through construction works, to commissioning and technological testing of all mechanical, electrical and automation systems (AKPiA).
