An investment project involving the modernization of the water treatment station in Krzyszkowice is currently underway in the Myślenice Municipality, with Ecol-Unicon acting as the general contractor. The works include the reconstruction of the existing technological infrastructure and adaptation of the facility to current operational requirements of the water supply system. The modernization aims to increase the reliability of the station’s operation and ensure stable water quality parameters for residents.

The modernization includes the reconstruction of the water treatment station building and the complete replacement of the technological installation. The existing treatment system will be dismantled and replaced with a modern technological system designed to ensure drinking water that meets the required quality parameters.

The project is part of a larger undertaking implemented within the municipality entitled “Expansion and modernization of the water supply system in the Municipality of Myślenice.” Funding for this initiative was obtained through the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment program (FEniKS). The objective of the project is to improve the condition of the natural environment, ensure an adequate quantity and quality of water for residents, reduce the number of failures, and minimize water losses in the water supply network.

Scope of work

  • reconstruction of the water treatment station building
  • construction of an above-ground reinforced concrete raw water tank with a capacity of 50 m³
  • installation of a new water treatment system including aeration, filtration and disinfection processes
  • installation of a two-stage pressure filtration system
  • installation of a water disinfection system using a UV lamp and sodium hypochlorite
  • modernization of the treated water storage and distribution system
  • implementation of a control, monitoring and remote supervision system for station operation
  • adaptation of the facility’s power supply infrastructure

Zastosowane rozwiązania

The operation of the modernized water treatment station will be based on natural groundwater treatment processes such as aeration and filtration. Water from deep wells will be directed to a raw water tank where, thanks to the use of an aeration jet system, it will be oxygenated and iron compounds will be partially precipitated.

The next stage of the process will be two-stage pressure filtration carried out in filtration modules filled with anthracite, quartz sand and catalytic media. The technological system will be complemented by water disinfection, including the use of a UV lamp, ensuring sanitary safety and stable water quality parameters for the water supplied to the distribution network.

After the modernization is completed, the water treatment station will operate with a capacity of 16 m³/h (with the possibility of maximum operation up to 20 m³/h), ensuring stable and safe water supply for residents and increasing the reliability of the local water supply system.

A significant implementation challenge is that the modernization is being carried out at an operational water treatment station, which must continuously maintain water supply to residents. This requires proper phasing of the works, precise coordination of technological and construction activities, and maintaining high operational safety standards throughout the project.
