Vortex settling tanks

Vortex settling tanks
EOW

Vortex settling tanks are used for the preliminary treatment

of sewage with easily settling suspended solids of density greater than 1 kg/dm3.

Ecol-Unicon settling tank
provide

  • effective treatment of sewage, reducing suspended solids to below 100 mg/dm3 (in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment of 18 November 2014, Journal of Laws of 2014, item 1800);
  • protection against excessive amounts of solids entering devices (e.g., before separators or treatment plants);
  • efficient separation of petroleum products within an integrated system with a lamellar insert (ESL-OW).

Benefits of use

high efficiency in sewage treatment for suspensions;

smaller footprint compared to conventional settling tank;

the inlet to the settlink tank can be positioned at any angle, significantly facilitating connection to the sewer network;

easy to operate;

can be installed within carriageway;

adjustable installation depth;

customisable to client needs.

Application

Depending on the type of catchment and the required level of sewage treatment, Ecol-Unicon offers:

Settling tanks are used for the preliminary treatment of sewage from:

  • roads,
  • car parks,
  • industrial yards,
  • petrol stations,
  • storage and transshipment areas,
  • enclosed garages,
  • car washes,
  • urban catchments,
  • ports, etc.

Additional configuration elements

Settling tank in a treatment system can be connected to the Bumerang smart stormwater management system.

Operating method

In the vortex settling tanks, in addition to gravity, centrifugal force is also utilised. As a result, a high efficiency of suspension separation is achieved under heavy hydraulic loads, thus relatively reducing the plan area of the settling tank.

The centrifugal motion of the sewage entering the device is induced by a directional deflector. The outlet from the centrifugal chamber is located in the central part of the tank (central pipe).

In a two-chamber settling tank, the second tank is divided into two parts: the first part acts as a trap for particles lighter than water, including petroleum products, while the second serves as an outflow chamber.

In the lamellar insert series, the second tank contains a lamellar insert and functions as a petroleum products separator.

Petroleum products and other light pollutants are retained, depending on the type of settling tank, in:

The second part of the tank (EOW-1 with deflector option)
Two-chamber settling tank (EOW-2)
A petroleum products separator located in the second tank (ESL-OW integrated with a lamellar package)

The technical solutions of settling tanks developed by Ecol-Unicon are distinguished by high efficiency in treatment, low operating costs, and easy access during cleaning.
